Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026 · Applies to: ANMYA Focus (Android package com.anmya.focus)

ANMYA Focus is a personal digital-wellbeing app for teens and adults (13+). It helps you run focus sessions, block distracting apps, stop endless Shorts and Reels scrolling, set a late-hours Night Guard, and check in with an optional AI coach. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what data the app touches, where it stays, and the control you have over it.

ANMYA Focus is built and operated by ANMYA Technologies ("ANMYA", "we", "our", "us"). For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), we act as the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described below.

In short: The core of ANMYA Focus runs on your device. We use privacy-respecting product analytics and crash reporting to keep the app working, and you can opt into cloud features (the AI coach and Circle). We never show ads, never run third-party ad-tracking, and never sell your data. You can export or delete your data at any time.

1. Our Principles

2. What Stays on Your Device

The following is processed and stored locally on your phone and is not transmitted to us unless you explicitly enable a cloud feature:

DataWhy it exists
Focus sessions, streaks, presets, daily goalsTo run and track your focus practice
App-usage signals (which app is in the foreground, how long you dwell)To enforce blocking and trigger gentle "speed-bump" check-ins
Your distraction list and Night Guard windowTo know which apps to block, and when
Behavioral notes you log (cue, mood, outcome) and coach memory factsTo personalize your local insights and coach replies
Content-filter rules (YouTube / music filters)To apply your always-on filtering preferences
App settings and preferencesTo remember how you like the app configured

3. The Accessibility Service — What It Does

ANMYA Focus is in the same category as apps like Opal, ScreenZen, AppBlock and Jomo, and — like them — it uses Android's Accessibility Service as its core blocking engine. This is the only way to close the Shorts / Reels / video-watch loophole that ordinary screen-time APIs cannot see.

When a focus session is active — or during a Night Guard window you have configured — ANMYA Focus uses the Accessibility Service to:

All of this happens on your device. Text read via the Accessibility Service is used in memory for a single allow/block decision and then discarded. Only matched counts may be kept locally (for example, "YouTube bounced 3 times today"). There is no keystroke logging, no off-device upload of accessibility content, and no remote analytics on it. The service validates the foreground app before reading anything, so it does not read password fields or banking apps. You can turn the Accessibility Service off at any time in your device Settings.

4. Permissions We Use, and Why

PermissionWhy ANMYA Focus needs it
Accessibility ServiceThe core blocking engine described in §3 (apps, Shorts/Reels, YouTube-watch, browser URLs).
NotificationsFocus reminders, Night Guard, and coach nudges.
Usage access (app usage stats)To show your screen-time and focus trends, and to drive dwell-based check-ins.
Display over other appsTo show the coach / intercept screen on top of a distracting app.
Camera (optional)Only used if you scan a QR code to connect a Circle accountability buddy. The camera is never used in the background.
Run a foreground service & exact alarmsTo keep blocking reliable and to fire reminders on time.
Internet & network stateFor account, analytics/crash reporting, and the opt-in cloud features below.

5. Cloud, Account & Diagnostics

5.1 Account (optional)

You can use ANMYA Focus as a guest, with no account. If you create an account, we process your email and display name (via Firebase Authentication and, if you choose it, Google Sign-In) to manage that account and enable the cloud features below.

5.2 AI Coach (opt-in)

If you use the AI coach, your coach messages and a small structured context (such as the active app category and a mood signal) are sent over an encrypted connection to our backend and to an AI model provider to generate replies. Your coach conversation history is stored on our servers so you can revisit past chats, and a small set of coach memory facts may be kept to personalize future replies. You can review this in the app, and you can clear it and revoke cloud processing at any time from Settings → Privacy → Coach data; revoking deletes your coach memory.

5.3 Circle — accountability buddy (opt-in)

If you connect a Circle buddy, we process a pairing code or QR link, the link between your two accounts, and lightweight presence/nudge signals so you can support each other. Invitations sent by contact use a salted, irreversible hash — we do not upload your address book. You can leave a Circle at any time.

5.4 Cloud Behavioral Insights (PRO, opt-in)

Subscribers may opt into syncing coarse behavioral patterns (for example, the type of cue, time-of-day, mood and outcome) so your coach can reference longer-term patterns across devices. This feature is off by default, requires a separate consent, and never includes the raw content of anything you do. You can withdraw consent and request a hard delete at any time.

5.5 Product analytics & crash reporting

To keep the app working and improve it, ANMYA Focus uses Google Firebase Analytics (anonymous product-usage events, such as which onboarding step you reached) and Firebase Crashlytics (crash stack traces and diagnostics). These do not include the content of your sessions, messages, or screens, and we do not use them for advertising. We are improving the in-app controls for these; in the meantime you can also limit analytics through your device and Google account settings.

6. What We Do Not Collect

The Google Play build of ANMYA Focus does not:

7. Who Processes Your Data

For account, diagnostics, and the opt-in cloud features, data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) and processed by the following:

ProviderPurpose
Microsoft AzureHosting our backend API and storing account, coach, and opt-in cloud data, encrypted in transit and at rest.
Google Firebase (Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging)Sign-in, product analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications.
Google Sign-In / Google Play BillingOptional sign-in and subscription purchases.
An AI model providerGenerating coach replies from the text and context you send. Data is not used to train third-party models.

These providers process data only as instructed by us. We do not grant them independent rights to use your data.

8. How Long We Keep Things

DataRetention
On-device dataStays on your device until you delete it (you can choose a 30-day, 90-day, 1-year, or "forever" local window in Settings).
Account informationFor the life of your account; after deletion, a 30-day grace period then permanent erase.
Coach conversation history & memoryUntil you clear it or revoke coach cloud processing.
Opt-in cloud insightsUntil you withdraw consent or request deletion.
Analytics & crash logsRetained by the provider for a limited period (typically up to 14 months for analytics; ~90 days for crash logs).

9. Your Rights & Control

10. Children and teens

ANMYA Focus is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it. If you are a teen between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction (often 18, or 16 in parts of the EU and UK for data-consent purposes), please review this policy with a parent or guardian. Our optional cloud features, such as the AI coach, are available to all users aged 13 and over, and we keep coaching age-appropriate; where your local law requires it, a parent or guardian's consent may be needed. We minimize what we collect: your focus sessions, streaks, blocklists, Night Guard schedule, and screen signals stay on your device by default, and the cloud features are optional and can be turned off or deleted at any time.

11. Changes & Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will change.

For any privacy question, data request, or grievance under the DPDP Act 2023 and the IT Rules 2021, contact our Grievance Officer. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
